Here, There, Everywhere!!

Wow...I feel like my brain is going in 10 different directions!

  • The Hogwarts Sock Kit swap (see link in sidebar) is heating up...lots of fun activities, quizzes, daily riddles...and a million blogs that I'll admit I'm not reading much of... I've been planning what I want to do for my partner's bag. I'm going to kinda wing it I think...have some design ideas, need to look up a particular "stitch" pattern.
  • Hoping to make it to Tampa this weekend for some shopping for the same.
  • The trip to Tampa would/will hopefully be double duty (for a date!)
  • Fishing is going well, but ooooohhhhhh so exhausting!
  • It's spring which is time for all sorts of events - Central Florida Fair coming up, looking forward to a new teacher - Judy Pascale is coming in April!
  • We'll be having a trunk show of Blue Heron Yarns in February.

Hogwarts Happenings

You may have noticed the recent addition of a Hogwarts Button to my blog... That's right, I'm also participating in the HSK4 Swap!

I got an owl the other day with my swappee - another Ravenclaw! Hooray! The timing of the owl was perfect, since I was headed to Miami on Friday on a roadtrip! I've picked up a couple of skeins of yarn so far...as for the socks, I think I might even try dyeing my own! Not certain just yet. Am hoping to learn a bit more about my swappee that might help me decide what kind of sock yarn would be good for her!

I'm also thinking of talking to one of the girls in my new knitting group about beads - she makes some of the worlds most gorgeous handmade glass beads and buttons....

I am a bit sad that I didn't choose to create a character blog for the HSK4, but as hard a time as I'm having just updating THIS blog regularly, I don't think I could really do it justice.

Renewal and Rejoicing

Even though you might not realize it from reading this blog, I've gotten myself involved in several new knitting swaps. The first is the Knittyboard SP10 swap. I have great up and downstreams - my first package arrived last week from my upstream. It's a beautiful green package all about renewal, life, and new beginnings!

Look at all of the wonderful loot!!! Stash Green Chai Tea, Amelie, a great Green Notepad, and amazing chocolate (ok, so that's not green, but it's super yummy)! And the best part? Look here:
It's just under 4oz of Corriedale roving, and it's sooooo soft...I almost would have thought it was Merino!! Another spinning friend made the same mistake! It's so luscious, I really want to break it out and start spinning it RIGHT NOW, but I'm afraid that would be a mistake. You see, Patsy Z will be flying in Friday night, and teaching us a class in spinning with color on Saturday!! So, for now I need to keep my bobbins free. After the class is over though, all bets are off.

In amazingly coincidental theming, here's a sneak peak of one of the many things I have planned for my DOWNSTREAM! Oh, and I finished some spinning for her this week too...again, realized on Saturday that I had to empty my bobbins!

I've hatched several plans for my downstream...in fact, I have most everything planned out!! Now I'm just in need of a package of supplies that I'm waiting on.

As to the rejoicing part? That new knitting group we started? Our first "regularly scheduled" meeting had NINE people in attendance!!! Hooray!

New Knitting Group!!!

It's official!!!

There's a NEW Fiber Group in Town!!

Some of you may know I've been wanting to start a "local" group for a while. Tonight I got a couple of other Ravelers together and we had our first meeting!!

We are the Four Corners Fiber & Craft group!

We already span a wide range of crafts, including Knitting, Crochet, Spinning, Felting, Glass-working, Pottery, Counted Cross Stitch, Swedish Weaving... What else can you add to our resume? We will meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 6pm-8pm and would LOVE it if you decide to join us!
